Where are my away message presets?

Post by MacMom »

When I moved stuff around trying to figure out why Adium is connecting so slowly, I seem to have lost my preset away messages. I haven't emptied the trash yet. Where do I find them? What's the folder or file called? Thanks in advance.

~/Library/Applications Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default User/Saved Status.plist

Also, I'm quite surprised that you couldn't find the one I referred to last night. It's in the Accounts folder of the Default User folder. There is a plist for every account you've ever created, each named by number.

Well, neither the Saved Status.plist in my current Default folder, nor the one in the Trash seemed to have my preset away messages, so I guess I have to recreate them. :(

Try Away Messages.plist.

I looked inside it and it's just a bunch of random characters but I guess that means something to Adium.

Look for the <key>Saved Status Array</key> in Saved Status.plist. The giant block of nastyness that follows is your saved away messages and states :)

They are just lost, I will just have to recreate my away messages. It's not as though I had that many of them, anyway.

And I also just uninstalled and reinstalled Adium. Crazy, probably, but maybe it will help to start fresh. If something got corrupted, should be in the trash now.

I almost forgot to rescue my logs -I had to retrieve them from the trash. :P

Hope there's nothing else I forgot to rescue. :?

My only disappointment is that my longtime buddy icon got resized to miniscule and I can't seem to make it bigger again (part of the problem is that I have no idea how I got it bigger in the first place). So I switched to The Cheat.

You might be able to find the buddy icon in
~/Library/Caches/Adium

Not sure how long our caches stay around though :)

Thanks.

I couldn't find the buddy icon in the caches, but I was able to resize it. I tried again to do it the way I remembered that I did it the last time and this time it worked. :)
