Upon launch yahoo gaim error unable to read appears.Yahoo messenger itself connects fine. :roll:

Double check host and proxy settings.

Thanks for the tip. It worked for me.

I'm a new Adium user and was happy with it when I installed it at work this afternoon but unhappy when I came home and Yahoo gave me the "gaim error unable to read" message.

The fix was to go into Preferences > Accounts > Yahoo > Options and correct the "Login Server" field. It had failed with the host "scs.msg.yahoo.com" but is now working with the host "scs.yahoo.com".

What hostname to enter was a lucky guess based on some Googling. How do we know what the recommended setting should be?
