5.0 will be released today (16th May). I was wondering if the new MSN would mean some changes to adium? I think it is open source so that could be helpful

Anyway, Adium X is not meant to replicate official IM clients but to be better then them.

New features in the official client of Messenger does not mean a thing really, as we just need the features to be available in the servers and libgaim to be able to use them.

I'm fairly sure that it is very much not open source. Plus, MSN5 for the mac is just catching up to the features in the windows version. I wouldn't expect this to affect development much, if at all.

Don't make me laugh

MSN5 doesn't have many improvements at all, that I've heard. The only major one is contact pictures, and Adium's had that for quite a little while
