How do I switch to English?
How do I switch to English?
I believe the subject says it all, how do I switch Adium back to the original English UI texts?

Get Info on Adium, open the Languages menu, and deselect everything except for English.ivarwind wrote:I believe the subject says it all, how do I switch Adium back to the original English UI texts?
You could always deselect everything over your International preffered langauge list.
I will explain why.
A lot of people'd rather have an English system, because most of the internet is in English, so help sites and such are more understandable.
That way, you would also like your apps to be in English, so your menu bar won't change languages all the time.

Thanks for the information, so easy when you know where
And continue to use Adium which is otherwise a great chat client.
In short, the problems range from bad grammar over bad spelling to "Danishification" of the English words to something that doesn't exist in Danish, even when there may be perfectly good Danish translations of the concepts. Or to something that does exist in Danish but means something else. I know translation is very difficult, and translation of short menu items and explanatory texts may be among the worst, giving the best of translators a hard time, so don't think I don't appreciate the effort. I do, but for now I prefer the original.
I want to do it because, sorry to say, the Danish translation is awful. I know the right thing to do would be to enter into a dialogue with the translator to correct what I find to be wrong, but right now I'd rather take the easy way out.evands wrote:Why do you want to do this?

Unless I'm mistaken, this is a general fenomenon. Your main language (as set in System Prefs) is not deselectable in any (?) application. To disable it anyway you need to first change your system language or open the Adium package and rename/delete/move the lproj folder in question.scatterbraine wrote:I also want to change from german to english, but i
cant deactivate german, because its greyed out...
anybody knows what to do?

Im doing the danish translation, and feel free to email/IM me any changes you'd like to see! I've tried to drag as many people into suggesting things, so that we could get the best translation available, but as you point out yourself, some things just cant be matched.
I havent done any changes from 0.81 to 0.82, so any new strings or last minute 'flaws' havent been made - Exams among other things - But I plan to do a major update as soon as the 0.83 strings have been finalized.
But otherwise, wouldnt deleting /Adium/Contents/Resources/Danish.lproj/ do the trick? Im not a cocoa master, so its just a suggestion you might want to try out..

That Adium is an open source project. So, if you don't like something you have the right to change it!
On the french forum, we work as a team to improve the translation. I think it's a good way to do, don't you think?

What I have been trying to do is get a full list of words you guys have problems with, and maybe change some of those. I've asked twice so far, but I'll ask again.
