Adium quits when Powerbook sleeps ??
Adium quits when Powerbook sleeps ??
I'm pretty sure that when using Adium in the past, when I came back to my Powerbook and woke it from sleep, the Adium application would still be open, and Adium would automatically log back into my accounts.
I can't recall now exactly when the change has happened, but nowadays when I wake my Powerbook, Adium has quit. Some other programs I think quit as well, so I'm guessing it has something to do with OSX rather than Adium.
I'm running Adium X 0.82 on MacOS X 10.3.9 on a 1.5GHz 17" Powerbook. Anyone have any tips as to how I can keep Adium from quitting even if the Powerbook sleeps?
Cheers

Understand what you're saying, but despite my PowerBook going to sleep with the lid closed, Adium still stay as an open application, and then automatically reconnected once the lid opened. But now Adium quits.kirk wrote:iBooks/PowerBooks cant maintain an active internet connection when the lid closes or the machine goes to sleep. I hate that also, and there's only one haxie I know of that lets it not sleep when the lid is closed: SleepLess. Not sure of the URL, but Google it.
He's not saying that he wants his powerbook to keep a connection - he's saying Adium is crashing when he puts his laptop to sleep.kirk wrote:iBooks/PowerBooks cant maintain an active internet connection when the lid closes or the machine goes to sleep. If Adium is crashing please follow the instructions on our support site:

Thanks wtmcgee. Just to clarify, I'm not sure that its crashing though - OSX may be just be quitting Adium some time after the Powerbook goes to sleep.wtmcgee wrote:He's not saying that he wants his powerbook to keep a connection - he's saying Adium is crashing when he puts his laptop to sleep.kirk wrote:iBooks/PowerBooks cant maintain an active internet connection when the lid closes or the machine goes to sleep. Yes, I recall that. I now have to go into each account (under the Status menu) and select the 'Available' option. I don't seem to be able to find any preference that makes all accounts launch with one selection.MaxHedrm wrote:Mine doesn't quit, but it does make me manually reconnect all the accounts. I think the problem has to do with the amount of stuff that is going on @ wake-up and how long it takes to reestablish the Airport connection.
Speaking of which, didn't there used to be a 'Connect All' menu item?
As I stated above, selecting the global "available" function will connect all accounts. Read a bit more carefully next time.slugdog wrote: Yes, I recall that. If you mean selecting the 1st menu option under the 'Status' menu, labelled 'Available', then it doesn't work. I read carefuly jstamos, but if you could write more specifically next time.jstamos wrote:As I stated above, selecting the global "available" function will connect all accounts. That IS the only possible option for a global Available. Do you see any other "Available"s that aren't tied to an account in an account sub-menu?slugdog wrote:If you mean selecting the 1st menu option under the 'Status' menu, labelled 'Available', then it doesn't work. If it's not working for you, then file a trac ticket. http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/ReportingBugs as that is clearly supposed to work.
Guys, setting a global status only connects the accounts that are checked in the Accounts pref pane. I just tried it and it only connected one of my accounts. Personally I think this is best, since I'm sure many of us have (for example) 3 AIM, 3 Yahoo!, and 3 MSN accounts, but we usually only use one account on each service (we have one primary account on each service). There should definitely be a way to just connect the accounts we usually use, and there is: the global status menu.
That said, I think there should also be a "Connect All" item.

This thus applies to all the accounts you have set to connect on startup, which makes obvious sense to me..FredAkbar wrote:Guys, setting a global status only connects the accounts that are checked in the Accounts pref pane. This is our decision, to live fast and die young.
Looks like I'll be reporting a bug then. I have all of my ids checked & set to sign on @ launch, but when the machine wakes from sleep, they do not reconnect. & when I set the Global Availability, they don't all sign on.FredAkbar wrote:Guys, setting a global status only connects the accounts that are checked in the Accounts pref pane. You guys are driving me nuts with the cross posting. This thread is about Adium quitting on sleep, not about reconnecting on sleep or a connect all menu item.
Reconnecting on sleep is being discussed here -> http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=3648
