Brushed metal had definite guidelines on when to use it and when not to, which Apple didn't follow, and has continually made seemingly random additions to. Unified has no guidelines whatsoever, which is why it's being used by the people who resisted brushed metal (that, and it doesn't look awful or remove any UI functionality). There's a "screw it, they aren't even trying to provide guidelines, we'll just do what looks good" attitude I've seen around. Personally I'm a big fan of Unified, so I don't mind much, although I wish Apple would consolidate their UI.TheSilverFox06 wrote:Apple's unified style in Mail 2 is supposed to start a new standard in applications the same way brushed metal did.
