Okay guys, this has me totally stumped, so I'm going to ask all of you knowledgeable folk right now.
I have a person on my buddy list, who I have set an alias of "Gable". His actual AIM screenname is the usual with letters and numbers and all that good stuff. When I hover over his name on my contact list, it says "Display Name: Gabl". Notice the missing "e". Now, when I logged onto my PC running Trillian Pro 3, his name appears on my contact list as "Gabl". So, I'm guessing this is a new thing in AIM? Display names?
If it's possible to use Adium in any way to make a display name like this, preferably like MSN's display names, it would be awesome. The reason being, is that you can broadcast a message to everyone on your buddy list without disturbing them or directly talking to them. It's just awesome.
Let me know what's going on with this, guys. Thanks!

Not sure if this is the same situation, but i've noticed with some buddies on my list, an alias will somehow carry itself over from one program to the next... somehow being stored with the contact information on AOL's servers. I first noticed this when i used a ncurses program called naim.. but before it I used a much older version of gaim in gentoo Linux.. Somehow the aliases i set in gaim got stored remotely and they've been with the screennames ever since...
