Mail, iChat, Adium

Ok this could be in the wrong place and if it is I apologise. I also apologise if its been said before, I looked on trac and couldn't find anything.

Would it be possible to link Adium and Mail together?? Like iChat does, so when typing a new mail out, if the contact you are sending it to is on-line then the "chat" button is activated??

I realise this would be very complicated and probably not possible as iChat and Mail are both apple progs whilst Adium isn't.

Unfortunately, Apple has not made this readily available. It might be hackable; I'd love to see a Mail plugin which accomplishes this :)

I filed a bug report about this (specifically, what needs to happen is to have IMServices.framework opened up), and Apple gave me a non-response and closed it as "works as intended". Options are a) hack it anyway, or b) write our own framework and just be resigned to Mail and Address Book not using it (but anything else could). I'm taking option b) currently, but people are welcome to try a).
