Complete Integration of Growl, QS and AIM Software

Post by icedrake67 »

Before Quicksilver B40 came out for tiger, Adium had a plugin that permitted a user to use Growl, QS and it to chat with people and never really glance at the chat window. It saved a huge amount of desktop space but that plugin is longer available until its updated for tiger. I understand that the Growl and AdiumX teams work together and some of one team work on both projects, allowing for Adium to have robust Growl support.

Is there anyway to recieve my iChat messages through Growl? QS has support to send IMs through it, but Growl does not currently have my desired feature. I do not mean to sound rude, I'm just very fustrated that a great combinations of programs cannot function together (Growl, QS and any AIM program). I'd really like to somehow recieve support this and would switch completely to iChat or Adium for it.

I wasn't sure of your actual question in there, so if what I posted doesn't answer go ahead and rephrase it :)

I did download growlichat, but the problem is that it only deals with someone's away status, not IM text.

Has anyone thought of developing a plugin for growl that would display IM text?

The problem is that requires hacking, and most of the growl devs use adium already.

We do have one Growl dev who wants to implement something like this though, so we'll see. :)

Then my next question is has there been any communication with Alcor the QS developer for getting a QS plug in for Adium going for B4x?

This question likely belongs in the Adium forum, feel free to move it.

Nobody on the adium team uses the qs plugin as far as I know.

Maybe I'm confused about what you want, but, if you go into Adium prefs, Events tab, go down to Message Received and Message Received (Initial), click the plus button, and add "Display a Growl Notification", it will pop up a window with, at the very least, a good amount of the message (Or all of it if your friends aren't too circumlocutory).

Long story short, I'd like this http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/docs/? ... um+Plug-In for Adium or have Growl display IM text from my buddies.

Sorry for not being clear earlier.

Edit: I would use this plugin now, but since Tiger came out and QS updated to B40+, it no longer works.

Isn't this a subject for the Quicksilver forums rather than Growl? The problem is down to the QS devs updating the Adium plugin for Tiger.
