You're gonna love the new XML format or whatever we actually end up with in 1.0. I can imagine you bouncing around with glee already.
Hmm, so should I hold off on the log import for now? Is there a discussion on this format going on? I'd like to get involved. Will both previous formats be supported or will they be converted?

Also another stupid problem with the old AIM logs is that the time stamps don't show the seconds. I'm not sure if I should import them using 00 as the seconds or ignore them entirely. I would very much like to be able to preserve the logs as not showing the seconds but I don't know if the format will allow that.

I used AIM in OS 9 until I moved over to OS X full time in September 2001 when 10.1 shipped. I have logs dating back to 1999. I was using the OS X AIM for a while until I stared using Adium 1.x in spring 2002. Annoyingly that leaves me with a big gap in logs because the original AIM for OS X didn't do logging. It's like a lobotomy for that year.

I finally started working on the AIM import script. My one question is which log format should I convert to? It seems that Adium supports both the text adiumLog format and html logs that contain css code. Is there a reason that I should choose one over the other? It seems that Adium currently only properly highlight the sender and recipient of the newer format, I guess thanks to the css (but it uses the default colors of green for your text, while I prefer red). I guess I'll go with the newer format but it seems kind of messy and it's annoying to read from the terminal. Will the older format always be supported? Should I work on converting my old logs to the new format as well?
I hope you realize that my post was a joke.
