MSN 7 Emoticons

Post by Fred Phillips »

Any chance of the new MSN 7 smileys? You know the Spongebob etc. I'd do it myself but I don't know how to make them a set

If you want the spongebob emoticon then make it yourself. Find the image, use an existing packs .plist take out all the emoticon instruction with in it, although you will need to keep one to alter for your spongebob. Find out what your friends type when they use that particular empoticon and set it as the same in your pack.

Do this with any other emoticon you want to use, then add the extension .adiumemoticonset on to the folder and install it in adium.

I think it should work and won't take you to long to do!!

I believe MSN 7 is capable of handling custom emoticons - it appears to transmit them to the client at the other end when you use them, or maybe it registers them through the server. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it's clearly quite a different mechanism to the traditional system.

Indeed. And it has been discussed before; MSN sends the emoticons as well as the text so you can see what emoticons they have. Adium doesn’t do this, and I would dislikeit happening.
