connections...(aim)

i just moved away to college, and i am having trouble getting my adium to connect... i have regular aim working(i hate this program!!!) but i cant seem to get adium to connect. i have the proxy settings andthe aim login server set exacttly the same as my aim but it still wont work. this is the error i get:

gaim error
proxy connection error 502

any help would be so great, thanks a bunch!

Do you have a firewall implemented?

Or perhaps AIM won't allow multiple connections (not likely, but worth a shot)?

If you are connecting through a proxy, then you might not have a firewall problem at all. Currently, Adium has trouble connecting through proxies. Are you able to connect without setting a proxy?
