@ uttaddmb:
you are wrong.
look at this page:

and on tuaw look here:

scroll down to "UPDATE". There it says that audio chat also works.
@omnigeno:
thanks for clearing that up. i didnt think about this possibility that the audio chat works but only to other ichat users. that really destroys the purpose. i was thinking it works to other google talk users too.

I am? Unless I'm missing something, neither of those links say that you can audio chat between iChat and the Google Talk client. Audio chat between two iChat users isn't anything new.tiefschwarz wrote:@ uttaddmb:

This would be very cool if it came to pass.Diatribe wrote:According to the latest news Google Talk will also be compatible with the Gizmo-Project. Then you can voice chat back and forth between the two.
Looking at this the plug-in that the Gizmo people were programming for Adium would be really awesome now. You could voice chat with every Gizmo, Adium and Google Talk user. Pretty sweet.
WAR between IM's
I'm following up on that story, and I found an interesting article about the war between the "big services".
I don't know what this article is worth, it might well be all wrong, but it's interesting point of view

Uhhhh... Adium devs?DB wrote:Specifically, sometime in the near future, all three services are going to be releasing new versions of their software and "Sunsetting" all older versions of their Windows clients. From what I can tell, Microsoft is spearheading the initiative, but the other two are going to follow.
Generally, each service has its own protocols and they do well to keep older versions in mind when they release a new client, because they want as many people on the network as possible. However, that's going to be going away -- you'll use the new client, or you won't chat on their networks.
It's writing on the wall, and it's been there for a while.Githon wrote:Uhhhh... Not that we have to worry think mac users can manage to update their clients every 2years or so when new mac versions come out.The_Tick wrote:It's writing on the wall, and it's been there for a while.Githon wrote:Uhhhh... dont know if anyone has seen this, http://nugget.livejournal.com/97081.html , or posted it but it was an interesting read too.twopeak wrote:I'm following up on that story, and I found an interesting article about the war between the "big services".

double posting?
I don't know if this has been said or what, but I gotta say it:
The GTalk client (the one that google made) sucks, and its been confirmed across the intarwb. People are switching over to other clients (like Trillian or Gaim for Windows) after switching over to the GTalk client. It's not that it eats babies, its that it lacks some serious features.
That's why you stick with Adium and Skype

What serious features?
BUZZ *SHAKE!*
Ads?!
I didn't mean that in the "ZOMG I AM TELLING U THINGS U DON'T NO!", but in the "Please soothe and reassure me that Adium will still work and I can IM in all its ducky goodness".The_Tick wrote:It's writing on the wall, and it's been there for a while.Githon wrote:Uhhhh... Of course, from the looks of the article, it's hard to tell when he says "Multi-protocol" if he means "cross-protocol", as in AIM accounts sending messages to ICQ and visa-versa.
Incidentally...
I had never used YIM outside of Adium, and I kept wondering why this one person kept shouting "Buzz!!" at meThe_Tick wrote:BUZZ *SHAKE!*
I've figured that out since then, but at the time, since it sends a text IM along with it, I thought the person was just insane.The_Tick wrote:If you were using the official client, it would have shaken the window violently, and made a loud sound.
Especially since every other message they sent implied they were insane as well
Veeery grateful that the buzz isn't implemented in Adium.
