The Trac ticket for this issue can be found at: http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/1274

As you can see, there's quite a bit of activity. Hopefully we'll have this resolved fairly soon.

On the main page, .82 is put back as the current version download since this is a big problem for .83. We can all downgrade for the time being :)

Yeah, I saw this in one of the last betas for 0.83. Maybe RC1 it started. I didn't say anything though because I thought just a lot of people signed off. However now I am talking to someone who is "Offline" as far as Adium is concerned.

EDIT: One thing I've noticed, it seems to be that maybe it's only one account. I have two AIM accounts on now, and one has abnormally low people on there, while the other has about average. It could just be a coincidence, who knows...

Same problem here.

Downgrade worked for me too. What really threw me, though, is that I still had an AIM contact showing online, and with away set.

This happened to me too. I went back to Adium 0.82 for now, and it's working perfectly. I'll stick with 0.82 until the bug is fixed.

I didn't have the problem with AIM buddies disappearing when I upgraded to 0.83, but my daughter is having the problem on her iBook.

I've posted an updated build of 0.83. I'd appreciate it if anyone experiencing trouble with the downloaded 0.83 could give this build a try and report their results either here or in the ticket for this issue.

Thanks :)

Your build seems to work fine Adam. Been using it for a few hours and now my buddy list shows everyone. Thanks. What did you change?

When I try to expand the zip, I get the following errors:

With StuffIt Expander:
An error has occured while expanding the file "Adium_0.83_Iser.zip" (Tried to position to before start of file). Error #-40

With OS X:
Unable to unarchive "Adium_0.83_Iser.zip" into "Desktop". (Error 2 - No such file or directory.)

Sounds like it didn't download correctly - the zip should be 9.8MB when finished.

Glad to hear it's working. :)

I posted some details on what went wrong in #1274. It was just a bad compile - nothing actually wrong with the source, but a flaw with our beta release procedures not requiring clean builds.

The download won't work for me. It takes a while to get going, then proceeds at 3 KB/sec or so (I'm on broadband), and after a couple minutes, it thinks it's done and tries to decompress it (producing the Stuffit Expander error that was mentioned earlier) This happens in both Safari and Firefox, and it happened both now and 10 minutes ago. I can just build from source if you can't fix the issue (or if I'm the only one experiencing it).
