Alright, I checked trac and couldn't find anything similar to this. Last night, still running .83, I got a send file request, and it did not work, so I cancelled it. After swapping to Safari, Adium crashed. I figured this would be a good time to install the new .84 update. Now the account I was logged in on, my main account, refuses to connect. I've tried other accounts and they work; it's only the one that doesn't. The console reports nothing and I've restarted since the crash, so I'm not seeing anything from Adium there.
Trashing my prefs in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users allows me to connect. However, I would hate to lose all my prefs, and short of spending a bunch of time figuring out exactly which one would fix things (I've already tried some to no effect) I was wondering if anybody had any helpful hints at all. I tried to download .83 off VersionTracker, but it just bounces me here, where all I can find is .84. Before upgrading, I had had no trouble with .83.
I guess I'm just looking for any hints or tricks anybody would have to help solve my problem. I appreciate it, thanks.

ooh, lucky me. looks like i'm not the only one having this problem.
Adium 0.8.4 on OS X 10.4.2.
After using 0.8.4 for a while, I suddenly can't connect to my Yahoo and GoogleTalk accounts. They worked before. Bonjour and AIM work fine though.
For both networks, the errors are
Repair permission didn't help. The problem spans across user accounts, ie Adium in another user account fails to connect to the same IM networks.
I have Adium 0.8.2 on another Mac and it works normally there. I downgraded the 0.8.4 to 0.8.2 but it failed as well. Trying to connect using fresh Adium profile didn't solve it.
