ok.. er think i came back slightly too late.. but my subscription to this topic didn't seem to go through.. um.. anyway.. before we get stuck with the new enterprise of selling water flavoured water..

um.. unfortuantely the choices that i can choose on the imac all work on the imac (obviously) and the external monitor's one of those cheapy pc monitors that are designed to take more modes than the imac can.. so.. not much of a chance there..

fyi i just checked sys prefs.. the imac can do 1024x768@75, 800x600@95, 792x594@96 and 640x480 at a crazy 117.. and as far as i can see those are the ONLY combinations available, and all of which the external monitor can take confortably..

um.. is it possible to disable the internal monitor by software? because during some mode changes the imac display comes up faster than the external, and even launching some programs the external monitor gets a lag..
