I like having Adium take those pictures instead of the buddy icons. As such, having the name next to the actual pictures of my frieds seems redundant. I am trying to figure out the best way to only display the images of my friends in the contact list.
Right now, I simply limit the horizontal 'maximum width' of the contact list. (under the appearances preferences) But there is a problem between what I want, and how adium treats the 'maximum width' -- it includes the scroll bar with that width.
So, when I set "maximum width' to 46 pixels and have icons that are 46 pixels, anytime there are more icons online than fit onto my screen, the scroll bar appears, blocking out some of the images. It just doesn't look as cool that way, at least in my opinion. Conversley, if I set the 'maximum width' to 46 pixels, but have the list layout buddy icons at 41, then the scroll bar is perfect when there are many people online. But when there are not enough people online, then I get about 5 pixels of the info on the right, and that is enough to display the first letter of the person's name or something.
That said, this is only a problem because I can't think of another way to configure it. Does anyone have ideas on how else I could tweak the settings?
I'll attach the picture of what the current set up looks like, and maybe it will inspire someone to let me know what I could do to fix it.

Thanks!
