Command-# tabs not working...
Command-# tabs not working...
Hello,
Just recently, after changing a few appearance settings, I haven't been able to switch tabs by using Command-1, Command-2, etc. Only Command-> and Command-< are working now.
Is there any way to toggle this feature, or have I disabled it somehow?
Thanks.

Are you sure? Or more specifically, are there more factors involved than simply opening the colour picker?evands wrote:Opening the Color Picker panel disables those shortcuts until Adium restarts. It's an old Apple bug which we have reported and they have ignored.
I just did some tests (10.4.2, Adium 0.84) and no matter how I opened the colour picker, I could still cmd-# to the different open tabs I had (and even opening new tabs after the fact).
I showed the colour picker by:
- choosing Format --> Show Colors
- clicking on the text colour and background colour buttons in the Font panel
- Jeff
I also always use one window, all tabbed.
I do occasionally open the color picker, but thats about once or twice every couple of weeks with multiple Adium restarts and computer restarts, without the picker opened, in between. I hardly ever open the text formatting and always use English input.
The last time it started working was after I changed the message style a couple times and probably restarted Adium. I then changed it again and it hasnt worked since (about a week or so). Ive tried to recreate this with no luck.

I also only ever use one window with my tabs in it, and have the following preference settings:
* [ON] Create new messages in tabs
* [OFF] Organize tabs into new windows by group
* [OFF] Sort tabs with the current sort options
• Tab switching it set to Arrows
* [ON] Always show tab bar
* [OFF] Allow closing of inactive tabs
Just in case any of those settings might affect the appearance of this issue (and a reminder for those following along: I don't see the issue during my tests)

And to follow Kepi's...
* [ON] Create new messages in tabs

* [OFF] Sort tabs with the current sort options (I dont see this option anywhere)
• Tab switching is set to Brackets
* [ON] Always show tab bar
* [OFF] Allow closing of inactive tabs
and for reference, heres the trac i had initially created for said issue, http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/1373

Would it help if I took a screenshot? I noticed there was one on the trac.

It's specifically the Color Sliders pane in the Colors picker -- that's the second from the left.
Here's the tricky part: If you open the picker, then switch to it, the command 1-4 shortcuts (which are grabbed by that drop-down menu near the top of it) aren't stolen until the next time a chat tab is opened, closed, or moved.
Here's the trickier part: The color picker remembers what tab it was on last. When you open Adium, if it was on the Color Sliders pane last time you used it, it grabs the shortcuts even before it's opened!
I'm looking into a better fix, but for now: Open the color picker, switch to a different pane (Please let me know if it was indeed on that pane to start with to confirm this theory), close it, then relaunch Adium and see if you get your command 1 through 4 back
