Click on notification

Is it possible for a click on a notification bring up the appropriate window in that application,
rather than simply bringing the application to the front?

This functionality is supplied by the application that is posting the notification. When the application is notified that the user has clicked on a notification, it decides what to do.

Is this supposed to happen with mail?? cos it doesn't on mine and I really wish it would!!

What are you using to send growl notifications from mail to growl?
