Display Picture Cache

Post by noreturn »

Not an earthshattering request, but I was curious as to where my contacts' display pictures are cached. I know you can drag and drop display pics in several situations, but I am quite interested in digging up older display pictures (i.e. ones used before a person changed theirs).

Any pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated...

Hello,

I think it's what you're searching for:
 Library>> Caches>> Adium>> Default
Pictures are in .png

Bye,

You won't find old pictures, though -- we don't clutter your HD with such data :)

Is that ~/Library/... or /Library/ ?

I was pulling your chain... I know it's in ~/Library (~/ is your current user's home folder.)

you can find a cache of all user display pics adium has ever come across by opening terminal and doing:

cd .gaim
cd icons
open .

then just add .jpg to any of the pics you want to open.

p.s. a quick way to add .jpg to all the icons is to go to library/scripts/finder scripts/ and open the script "add to file names". then make sure the window that has the icons is the active window, then run the script with .jpg entered as a suffix

Code: Select all

cd ~/.gaim
cd ~/.gaim/icons/
open
Needed a little UNIX syntax love...

doesn't work (at least not for me)
There's no such folder.

but a simpeler way would be to do command-g (go command) and type the adress... then you have the nice window interface instead of textual.

Same here. Doesn't work with the go command nor the terminal.

Deleting Cache!

Post by alexius »

I have a bit of an inverse request. I have a persistent problem with icons updating at very irregular intervals. How can I -completely- refresh the cache, and what files can I delete to 'start all over again' as it were. Thanks!!
