GrowLyrics to show iTunes lyrics

Post by BOlle »

With my GrowLyrics applescript, I can read the lyrics of the current iTunes song as a notifcation. I hooked it to a Quicksilver trigger to make it systemwide available.
Nice and all, but I miss some features I'd like to add. Since this is my sixth script, I haven't got a clue. I could use some bright

1. How can I make the notification window to adapt to the amount of lyrics. With short lyrics it works fine, with long lyrics they tend to 'fall' of the bottom of the screen. Or can I make a scrollable notification window?

2. Can I make the notification window with the lyrics to stick around, untill the user clicks on the/a close button?

One of the options when posting a notification through AppleScript is whether it is sticky, not sticky or default.

Hehe, ok, I 'solved' the sticky part. It's an option in the Growl prefenrence pane. Duh!

Right, 1 down, 1 to go: how to get the notification window to adapt to the number of textlines. Or, maybe be able to use a different size of notification window?

There is no way that I know of to create a scrolling notification.

I haven't made a notification run out of lines, but the longest mine have gone is about 20 lines.

I would suggest a solution utilizing GeekTool (Tiger Info) instead..

Good thing I searched and found this.

I was just looking for a way to put the current lyrics I'm listening to on the desktop, and I thought Growl would have the ability to do this. I knew I wouldn't be the first person to try this.

I'm just going to add my support to this, as I would love to have my lyrics on the desktop, and I guess Growl could be a suitable tool to do this.
