Not sure if this has been covered or not, I tried doing a search.
I was just wondering if there is a way to use simple html codes while sending a message? for example, using the <strike> </strike> code, or <blink></blink>. I know it prob sounds odd to want to do something like this, but is it possible?
HTML codes
I don't think so. I requested strikethrough a long while ago, but I don't think anything ever came of it. Before that, back during the first incarnation of Adium (in 2002, when dinosaurs roamed the earth), I actually went so far as to download the source code to take out the bracket stripping, so I could manually put in <strike>s, etc. I've thought about doing that again, but I'm pretty sure the stripping is now handled at the GAIM plugin level, which makes it a little tricker to find the right part of the code to comment out.
Anyhow, long story short: me wantee the strikethrough 2!! ;-)

Nope, <blink> doesn't work. (<strike> does, too.) (As does <marquee> - there's still hope for obnoxiousness. (: )Does Safari even support that ugly thing?
(Edit: For clarification - I'm talking about what Safari supports, not what Adium does.)

The font panel strikethrough works now? (Runs and tests it… Comes back.) Wow! That's what I asked for last time, but it seemed like none of the developers were interested in implementing it. I guess someone must have done it later without making a fuss about it.
Cool.
On the other topic: All the Mozilla variants support <blink> in order to give props to their Netscape roots, but no one else does, I think. I recall when David Hyatt mentioned adding marquee support to Safari in his blog, so basically MS and Apple are the only ones to support it. There must be something about creating an OS that makes you really want to add marquee support.
Anyhow, it should be really clear what message theme needs to be made now: All marquees baby! Oh yeah, you thought Adium chat was cool, well wait until all your Adium chats are looping in circles! It'll make you so dizzy that you puke from pure UI goodness! Rock on! Finally a chat client that displays chats they way they were meant to be displayed: in headache inducing cycles! All right!
Someone needs to make that theme ASAP!
