[request] rethink of the chat window
[request] rethink of the chat window
i find the chat window not at my taste
there is plenty of theme on it but it has always the same design.
what i'm looking for is the ability to have a big avatar without it trouble the chat ability and not having a giant window on the screen (the only one i found with a big avatar was uneasy to use)
there should be a various kind of chat windows style
i find the PC MSN 7 chat window quite interresting -> the big avatar on the right which don't trouble the chat itself
the amsn window chat style is quite interresting too
and other request of mine is the hability to have some transparency on the chat window
thx

Window transparency for the message window is not possible at this time. With regards to themes... check (X)tras as done or find someone to make one that meets your particular needs and tastes.
Try my software!

Personally I don't understand a lot of the more questionable UI changes and issues but hey, to each their own.

I REALLY don't like that interface. Everything is unnecessarily large (the metal window, the send button, the drawer...). We're really going for a streamlined interface in Adium, and this isn't it.
Regardless, as I mentioned, there ARE message views that show full-sized user icons, and tooltips also show them (mouse over a person's name on the contact list).

nope the big icon button isn't in .7x look for it in .8
One of the things I hate about the official clients (besides their general crappyness that is) is all the wasted space. MSN has a similar "send" button. If you're typing (don't know how else you would enter text to the chat window) hitting return is a lot easier then moving your hand to the mouse to press an oversized button. MSN also takes up crazy amounts of space for unnecessary rarely used features, so about only 50% of the actual message window is the messages, which is ridiculous.
The contact lists are worse, they're filled up with more mostly useless rarely used features, and ads. only about 50% of a contact list is actually contacts.
Adium does away with this nonsense. Hopefully the implementation of larger icon viewing in .8 will be more to your liking because I think yet again the slimed down no-nonsense interface of Adium does it again
Ok that's enough of a rant on UI for me, I should have been in bed hours ago.

Here's a toast to the brave devs of Adium!
