Delete the contact in the official client and Adium should remember. Should. Ive had problems with this before, too.

Crazy idea here; maybe get MSN then, and delete her?

Yeah a lot of times you just go and use the original client and it will work there.

I lot of times I go to the original client and even that damn thing can't do it :P, but I find that problem with modifying groups more than deleting contacts.

This thread makes me chuckle, no offense :-)

Perhaps try blocking your ex and then deleting her. I mean, you'll have to block her anyway otherwise she'll still see your status and be able to send you messages.

Another idea:
1) Block and delete her on the Microsoft Messenger, checking all of your groups.
2) Trash the folder <your home folder>/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/libgaim.
3) Sign in with Adium.

Did that help?

Did you even check to see what Kiel had posted before you made another thread? :?

This is done automatically on every launch of Adium as of 0.86. [joking]Perhaps folks should repair permissions, too ;)[/joking]

Yeah I think I heard/saw somewhere that the blist.xml file was trashed regularly. So every time we sign on, it re-downloads the buddy/contact list? There isn't a pattern or some rule Adium evaluates to determine if the contact list has changed?

Not in 0.86. As the tone of your response correctly suggests, it's dumb... but less dumb than us not getting serverside updating which people kept reporting in previous versions. Going to look for a proper solution in free time at some point... (*groan*)

Sorry Evan, I didn't mean my message to sound dumb :-( It was in genuine and sincere question, I didn't mean to sound derogatory.

Sorry, it was unclear what I was calling dumb. I meant the current implementation is dumb, and I felt you'd hit the nail on the head in pointing out why it was dumb -- the derisive tone in my post was directed only at the way it's done right now, and I've no qualms making fun of that since I did it :-)

Know the feeling.
Question: "Help I deleted the only admin account / help i have a dead pixel / help my harddrive fried etc."
Answer: "Did you repair permissions?"

Evands: Does that mean better reliability for all services, I mean will Adium's method of generally 'doing stuff' when it comes to contacts change completly or is this just AIM only for now?

Depends on what exactly the problem is, if the problem can be found, and what solution is found if any. It's possible we're using libgaim improperly in this instance. It's possible libgaim in general has serious problems with contact management. It's possible that particular protocols have particular problems in their implementation libgaim-side. Finally, it's possible that biochemistry or anatomy drive me insane and someone else has to work on the problem. :)
