Truly bothersome Adium bug

Post by Jona »

So far, the only bug I've encountered in Adium that has truly lessened my enjoyment of the app is this: sometimes when I am about to send my message to someone, the text simply disappears. It is, as far as I can tell, completely random, and I have never managed to replicate the bug by pressing different key kombinations or repeating some actions. I cannot recall the text in any way, either by going through my history, or using alt-arrow up (which is perfectly logical: the text was never sent).

The only thing that could possibly be a recurring actor in causing this bug is holding the command key, since I use the command-return mode of sending messages, and this always seem to occur just as I am about to send my message (just when I've pressed command). However, even while holding command and trying different, sometimes completely illogical or arbitrary, actions or commands, I still haven't been able to replicate the bug.

The common cry of every beta app user out there: "Is it just me?" ;-)

Why are you still using the beta?

Hehe, not quite the answer I was hoping for, and not quite as relevant as I would have expected...

It's an old habit from when I tried to learn to code on my old amiga. Anything that was not version number 1.0 or higher was generally considered beta.

Anways, I use Adium 0.86, latest release. Any ideas of what might cause this?

It's not a beta.

When it disappears, does an arrow appear on the right hand of the input area?

To interject, I've had this problem too....and no, said arrow has ever appeared. This hasn't happened in a while, but it still sometimes happens.

Just thought I might contribute.
