no .nib access in .86

Post by indomitable »

I really did search for this because it seems like it would have been mentioned but I got nothin.

I always used to go into messagewindow.nib after each new update and switch off the drop shadow due to an OCD related desire to have my message window blend with my desktop. Now it looks like we're not able to open those files. Is there a way around this, have I screwed something up or am I just SOL?

thanks dudes,
A

We no longer include all the files which are needed for the nib files to be opened in Interface Builder, as it was a waste of space for 99% of users.

See http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/GettingAdiumSource for how to download and build your own copy of Adium which you can modify as you wish.

What kind of space did we save, just curious really

Just over 2.3 mb uncompressed at present -- savings increase with each additional translation added, as well.

Very nice. Sort of like when we converted the tiffs to png and then removed the resource forks, that saved us something like half a meg.

The ancillary benefit is that users cannot open and alter application level resources without the source (although there are workarounds) It's Apple's recommended method for protecting your interface files [weak, but moderately successful, security++]
