Trac Item #500 discusses a shortcoming in AdiumX, namely that contacts cannot belong to more than one group. While not a major bug, it would be a good feature to support. The last developer posting on it was back in July, when it was being given "further thoughts."
I'd like to see this bug fixed; has there been any thought given to it? Anything we can do to help?
Bug #500 - contacts in multiple groups - any progress?

Write code is always the way to get a feature implemented (you used the word bug; I don't really see it as a bug, just a missing feature).
Really, the main problem with doing this is that most protocols limit you to a 1:1 mapping of contacts & groups, server side. We had local groups for a while, and had stuff like nesting annd what not, but it was too much of a hassle to maintain (the code was kind of hackish).
Feel free to submit a patch though.
