AIM buddy showing online but not reachable

An AOL-user contact of mine is showing as online and available in the contacts list but when I try and send a message I get the "user is offline - send now or later" message. Clicking send now gets "user not online".

However, when I go into iChat, everything's fine.... she is indeed online and we can chat normally.

Anyone having same problem or have any thoughts on a solution? I loathe iChat!
