A "Get Adium" site must be made.

What I had always wanted to do was make a big table of features that mac users care about, and compare Fire/Adium/Proteus, along with the official clients. If everyone really wants to do this community site, I can see that as being beneficial.

Would there be any confusion due to one directory of adiumx.com being controlled by a different group of people from the rest of adiumx.com (especially since it's a directory and not a subdomain, as switch.adiumx.com would be; I agree that adiumx.com/switch is better)?

Are you gonna pay for the domain and do a site?

Why not both switch.adiumx.com and adiumx.com/switch?

Again, it's easy to get domain name ideas from Firefox, but it's just as easy to use them incorrectly. SpreadFirefox is not a site for users interested in switching. It's a site where fans can learn about how to spread the software, such as printing big stacks of flyers, which wouldn't really work for Adium since it's Mac-only. Since the possibilities for spreading Adium are somewhat limited compared to those for Firefox, I think a simple discussion on the forums, rather than a separate site, would be enough.

I also like Tick's idea about the table of features. Reminds me of Apple's table of OS features, with OS 9, OS 10.1, and OS 10.2, or something; I especially like the last section, called Older "Features," which has such things as "Shared memory" and "Program crash takes down the whole operating system," which only OS 9 has. We could have something like that, like "really annoying bullshit*" and only the official clients would be checked in the table.

*I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea.

and i agree with that table idea. possibly a wiki or place for users to post thier raves about it.

i.e: Jonathan Kantro (Powerbook G4-Adium User for 2 years)- "Adium is the best application that i ever downloaded for my mac. its simple, clean...."
