how to rename a group?
how to rename a group?
i haven't been successful finding a rename option for the groups. is there a way to rename a group completely. more than just putting some name in the alias of the group?
I believe that is currently the only solution other than opening the official client and changing it there.

IIRC it requires serverside calls (via gaim) that either:
a) aren't there, or
b) aren't hooked up/tested

That'd be incredibly foolhardy... what happens if it fails in mid-move, what if you exceed any server limits, bandwidth drops, etc. Not to mention it would all be to workaround the actual way of doing it, which is never a solid idea.

Which is why, since the Gaim implementation does exactly that, I consider it scarybgannin wrote:That'd be incredibly foolhardy... what happens if it fails in mid-move, what if you exceed any server limits, bandwidth drops, etc. Not to mention it would all be to workaround the actual way of doing it, which is never a solid idea.
The difference between the way Trillian handles this and Adium handles this, is that Trillian creates a 'local' group that only exists locally on the computer, while Adium's groups are actually created on the server? So, if I were to uninstall Adium and reinstall it, my contacts would be in their correct groups? Or, if I were to open the official clients, then they would be found in their correct groups?
Which gives Adium some problems with groups, though, sometimes, because it then has to abide by the rules of the particular IM network. Most of the time, when I move a contact from one group to another, it doesn't move successfully. For instance, I restart Adium, and thet contact is back in its old group.Kepi wrote:Yes and yesGary King wrote:...while Adium's groups are actually created on the server?
