You may not believe it, but one of my sons told me recently, 'you know, I just cannot switch to Adium, only because it doesn't handle my favorite smiley'!
It was one hearth (he's more of the right age than me ;-) that he builds, if I understand correctly, by typing this: (I)
I am not sure actually, but this is certainly one of the standard msn-recognized smileys.
Not being myself a programmer, I still imagine the text parser in Adium probably has lists of smiley characters that are possibly easy to edit, and graphic icons resources that one may possibly add to with the most classic Graphic Converter.
Do you know wether doing just this -adding a new smiley recognition, not even adding it to the 'local paste' menu would be necessary here- has been already considered, or could be, or is part of some open framework?
