Groups not properly converting

Post by superpants312 »

Okay, first of all let me state my absolute love for Adium. I'm a relatively new Mac user (since June '04) and I've had Adium since Day 1. I love how it's fully customizable and everyone helps everyone.

With that transition, here's my problem: I generally just use AIM and Adium; I never use my Yahoo! or MSN screen names. I signed onto AIM this morning and changed all of my groups (adding, renaming, etc) and resorted all of my contacts. I have restarted Adium, restarted AIM, restarted the computer, but I cannot get the groups to transfer to Adium. I even tries deleting the particular screen name from my Adium accounts and then re-adding, but to no avail.

Please help!
Thank you,
Heather :shock:

PS: Chili Cheese-flavored Fritos are... interesting, to say the least.

Welcome to the Forums!

Trying going to your home folder's Library folder, then Application Support, then Adium 2.0, then the Users folder and select Default.

(for the techy types - ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/)

And try removing [just onto Desktop is sufficient] the Contact List.plist file. That would be my first try. There's other files in there for preferences, feel free to move them out one by one to see which helps. If there's no change after relaunching Adium without the file you can put the old one back if you'd like so you don't lose your settings.
Try my software!

#define ADIUMX pimp //by me
#define QUESTION ((2b) || (!2b))

Didn't help

No change, minus lost preferences (no big deal).

Any other ideas?

PS: Thanks for the speedy reply. :D

Whoop...

I DID get it to work, but only after deleting all of the files in the "User" folder. I'm a terrible person to use for finding out bugs, because I gave you no insight as to which file it was... but if you delete them all (and you're not too attached to your message styles, dock icons, and preferences in general...) it works!

Thank you, Adium!
