Want to code on Adium? Not sure what to work on?

Post by Catfish_Man »

<edit>
I've set up http://trac.adiumx.com/report/13 as a list of bugs/requests that are probably good ones to start with. The message below is from before I'd done that.

It's been languishing a bit, but I'll try to remember to add to it
</edit>

Fixing http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/1837 should be a fairly simple introduction to the Adium code base if we've got any Cocoa programmers on the forums who are thinking about contributing.

Sure thang!

I'd be happy to take a look at it. I'm not (yet anyway) very familiar with the Adium codebase, but that shouldn't be a problem. I take it from the ticket that this should be done as a 'plugin'? I have still to figure out how the customizetalk.com-link is related...

ooh how do you find that book? helpful, hard to understand?
i also heard you need to know C before reading it. Anyone know if this is true?

It's kind of true, they prefer you to either know C or Java. But it seems usefull. I got tipped on it, so I went ahead and got it. Although it's a bit hard to understand it. But I see it as a worthy challenge.

The internet filter at school thinks that your site is in the "pornography" category :shock:
I know it's not, since I look at your site once in a while at home...

Here’s how:
1. If you have ssh access to a server, download the file using:

Code: Select all

wget -p http://brok3n.org/cocoa.html
2a. (S)FTP GET the file
or
2b. Access it from the server

Also, you could attempt to get it via another protocol/port, such as Anonymous FTP.

Or you could use scp.
scp filename remotelocation:~/file/name

You need to have ssh enabled on your machine too.

They look nice, but I really can't judge them until I see what they look like in the File Transfer window.

The arrow looks remotely off-center…
