MSN & Adium dont show me as online

Ive tried a number of things but these two messenger services refuse to show me as online on my freinds contact lists. Can someone please help m with this problem

please give us as many information about your situation:
computer, operating system, what applications are you trying, what is your internet situation (dialup, behind a router, in a big company that blocks access, firewall, ...)

please tell us every single detail you can think of...

Try adding yourself to your contact list to see your status.

Also try using the Microsoft Messenger - do you appear online to your friends when you've signed in on the official client?

Same problem here
and it used to work perfectly, i didnt change anything... Some can see me , others dont, they only see me if i first send them a message first.

i have a mac mini, 1,45 ghz, no firewall

i notcied the same problem with aMSN...

I have a user on the french forum that describe the same problem.

Could that be a question of server in Europe?

In a few cases, contacts using MSN on Win don't see me online and they can't send me files: I accept, but from their side it's as if I hadn't.

I am having the same problems here, I use multiple MSN accounts and they all appear offline.

Also having this problem; I added myself to my contact list and I appear online, but everyone else is saying I appear offline (and when I do appear online, they are having troubles sending messages to me).

So it's not just an EU thing. It worked fine for months before; I just noticed this in the past couple of days.

Edit: I just tried setting the account to Offline manually, and then setting it to a custom online status, which seemed to have worked. I'll keep you updated if this fix sticks.

Edit #2: It only seemed to have worked for some accounts, and some others only saw me after they signed out and back in.

I just discovered I have this issue.

I am not appearing online on any of my friends contact lists. I am not in invisible mode either. I have also tried the official client and its happening with that as well.

Just about to try again.

I'm on an iBook runing 10.4.3, the latest version of Adium and the latest Microsoft Messenger for Mac. I also have myself in buddy list, and I am appearing fine on that.

Edit: I am now appearing online in the message window, but not appearing online in the contact list!!
