.mac account conversations

i just started using this program, and just decided to use my.mac account since i finally paid for it, and i was talking to a friend, who is on aim, and he said he could see my whole email, so i IM'ed my aim name from my .mac name, and sure enough, my whole .mac email was there.. is it supposed to be like that? i find that a personal information issue in my book... i would rather only my name (alias) showing up, not my whole email. is there a way to change that? thanks

your whole email being yourname@mac.com? That's what happens when you use a .mac IM name.

thanks for replying.. i figured as much.. guess i'll keep using aim for everyone else.. i see it as a huge way to acquire lots of junk mail :-P

well thats how .mac works, if you use iChat, its the same way.
