Why would getting a job with Apple prevent you from working on Adium? Is that a matter of not having enough time, or is their some other reason?

Note I said that getting a job on an Adium-esque project (like iChat or another app). In general it wouldn't prevent you, but the practical aspect is that you likely have access to confidential materials that could unknowingly be added to Adium, which would be bad, and Apple takes projects of employees seriously (note the guy who made that Netflix app and had to surrender the code as Apple said it was related to what he worked on for them and they had right to it via his contract)

And definitely the time factor - you'll likely work a 60+ hour week there, not a ton of free time, and likely not a desire to code more ;)
