Weird buddy icon request

ok this might sound weird or maybe frivolous but i figure, i cant hurt to ask (at least not too much), so here goes:

several of my buddies have animated icons where the first pic is blank, and since the buddy list pulls the first pic to set as the icon, all i see is a white square, is there anyways to avoid this, like maybe pulling the middle pic if the first is empty, i dunno just a thought, let me know what you think, no biggie just an idea

Sounds possible to implement, but it'd be a lot of work to do well.

I don't know that there's a readily accessible way to check for a 'blank' image (which would likely be a solid color of some sort, with degrees of pixelation due to compression)... which would make it hard to know when to know to grab the middle pic or not.

As to whether it would work as an overall change or not (grab the middle frame every time if animated) I don't know, as I tend to ignore animated icons
