best way to create dock icons

Post by JiveMasterT »

I was trying to make a dock Icon and for some reason, whenever you have it magnnify the icon, it makes it look really pixelated, even though the image itself is 200x200 and in PNG uncompressed with alpha transparency. is there a guide on how to do these?

This is a guess.. but I bet that the veterans and professionals of making Adiumies had a big duck, worked on it while it was big, then scaled it down to about 256 x 256, or bigger.
the sky is going to crush you.

Please don't hijack threads. With that said, the dock icon packages should have a 256x256 Adiumy.

Are you trying to make an adiumy, or just a regular OsX Hi-Res icon?

The icons are 128x128 - there's no way to display them in the dock or in the finder any larger than that.

The problem I think this person is having is that they are saving the file at the wrong resolution - make sure the resolution is 72. I had this problem before and making sure the resolution was at this number removed my problems.

By editing a .plist (think it was one of those) file it can be done, atleast in the Finder.
It's not a bug. It's an undocumented feature.

Technically speaking, Tiger supports icon resolutions up to 256 x 256, though you cannot visibly set it this high or view it in any applications.
Try my software!
