OK. This is probably something stoopid but I've been banging my head against it. My contact list has disappeared. It's not there. Everything else seems to be working.
I'm wondering if somehow the list has rooted itself offscreen somewhere.
?
Any suggestions?
(And yes, I have tried command-/ , it doesn't help.)
1) Before doing anything else, please backup your Window Positions.plist (in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default User) -- not because it matters for you, but because it might help us figure out what happened in the first place
2) What's your contact list window style (Appearance prefs)? If you toggle it to/from Regular Window, does it help?
Have you made sure that the account(s) are actually online? I've found that my connecting sometimes hangs for a while, which results in the list not being visible (since its empty)

Done. Can I safely delete this file and start from scratch?

The window style is Contact Bubbles To Fit. I also have it to auto resize in both directions. I've tried turning all that off and going to a regular window but it doesn't seem to matter. I also widened it to its maximum width but it doesn't matter.

Yeah. In fact I was using adium all day yesterday in this mode, chatting with several people. Everything else seems to work fine....
You can indeed safely delete it -- doing so should make your contact list appear in the default location on the main screen. Be sure to delete it while Adium isn't open...
OK. That looks to have fixed it. Although it took two tries - earlier today I moved the plist file to my desktop and then started adium. This didn't seem to make any difference.
Just now I deleted the file and that fixed it.
Dunno. That shouldn't matter.
Anyway, I'm back up and running. Thanks for the help and the great app.
hey, evan...I'm running into this too, now, on .89. It's still online, but the contact list totally disappears. deleted the windows.plist file, which fixed it, but it happened again.
Not sure if this is the same problem, but I do remember several of us having this issue a while back.
Basically, the contents of my buddy list disappear over night. The buddy list is still on screen and functioning, but when I wake up, no more contacts. If I restart Adium, it's fine. Not sure if this is AIM related or Adium related. Anyone else running into this? Solutions?
Every now and then I accidentally hit cmd-/ , which hides it; could that be happening, or is this disappearing while you're gone? (I almost always leave an account connected, and don't have any window-disappearing.)

This has happened to me before although not recently.

It only happens when I go to bed and thus am not on my computer for long periods. Seems to only be an issue over night.

The same with me, I go to bed, next morning the contact list is gone. But it also happened some other time. Usually I'm gone away for some time, when I come back: no contac list.
Restarting Adium usually helps, but this shouldn't happen ...
You know it's weird, but I hadn't had this problem since I posted about it originally. But ... late last week it happened again twice, right about the time this post got resurrected.
Maybe it does have something to do with AIM? Sounds kind of crazy though.
