Adium widget stuff (again!)

Post by Ludge »

Hey everyone, I'm afraid I'm here on about the AdiumList widget. (And, as always, comments & suggestions are welcome!)

I've been quietly trundling away working on a new release, and am now in need of icons.

The screenshot above shows how it's currently looking. Clicking the icon in the top left toggles showing/hiding offline contacts, and clicking the icon to the right of it shows a drop down with options on how to sort the contact list (alphabetically, by status or in groups). Clicking the box showing your status allows you to change it.

I was hoping to use the three Adium icons shown in the image below in the widget. Is this OK?

Here's the scrounging bit, would anyone be able to make an icon for sorting alphabetically? Just something 21x21px in size which fits the Adium style (maybe like the black blobby thing in the lower right). I've been trying and failing spectacularly.

Thanks in advance!

So long as your widget is released under the GPL or a compatible license, that'll be just fine. Wes Underwood would also have to sign off on them being used in a more restrictive / closed source environment.

Well the source is pretty much all visible anyway, and it's not a problem if people want to play with the source that is compiled into the plugins for it, so that's OK.

Mac-arena, patr1ck, and I have been working on an API design for Adium. It seems like this would be extremely useful to you, so feel free to get in touch with me or (even better) discuss it with us on the #adium irc channel.

Working on it after I've got group sorting working nicely.

I'm really sorry to bump this, but could someone please tell me who designed the adium icons in the UI so that I can contact them. I'm struggling to make a sort alphabetically icon still. My graphic skills are dreadful!

Wes Underwood, wunderwood was his forum name IIRC.
Try my software!

#define ADIUMX pimp //by me
#define QUESTION ((2b) || (!2b))
Have you hugged a programmer today?

Thanks bgannin, I missed that Evan mentioned his name earlier.

Testers are now required!

Here's the latest screenshot:

The only thing yet to change is one of the icons and chat initiation. They're being worked on.

If anyone wants to try this, a zip file can be downloaded here. It should work for both 0.8x and 1.0svn users.

Install the Adium plugin, then the widget, and please post back here saying if it works or not. Please include OS & Adium versions in all responses.

Sorry just figured out how to show groups. Is there any way to hide groups with no one in them?

Thanks for the replies.

To be honest, empty groups shouldn't show up right now. I'm not sure why they do. I'll try and fix it.

EDIT:
Ah. Empty groups (for example, from accounts not signed in) are filtered out. Accounts which do have contacts in, but are not being shown due to hiding offline contacts are not. Will fix this.

Sorry 'bout the lack of updates. It's mostly because of uni commitments. My lecturers have decided that now is the time to crush us all under the workload!

So basically it's nearly ready but not quite, and unfortunately I can't give an exact date for dropping the next version.
