See remote user 'display name' and 'custom status'?

Post by ajmas »

Does anyone know how I can have the following displayed in my contact list:
- custom user status message
- custom display name
for remote users, even if they are in my address book.

Some people I know leave messages to friends my changing their display name, but I miss out on those messages, since I don't see them. I have been trying to do this for my MSN account.

Try going to prefences -> advanced -> msn and tick "show display name as status message" . Then configure your contact list to display statuses after the name. i think that should work (by showing their name, then their display name)

Correction it does work.

How about custom status messages? For example, I have added my own MSN account to my buddies list (you can do that :), but if I set my away message to be 'blowing bubble', I don't see it.

MSN doesn't support custom status messages.
