Away message in AIM but not Yahoo

Hey, I did a search for this and didn't turn anything up.

I have both an AIM and Yahoo account using Adium, and a friend with the same setup. We both have each other listed as a metacontact. When he goes away, I notice that he still has the "available" status. When I check his tooltips, I see that his AIM account is away, and his Yahoo account isn't. When I told him about this, he said the same thing happens to me when I go away (even though it doesn't appear that way when I look at my own account on my contact list). What's the dealio?

I've the same problem. However, when I set myself away, I can see the problem when I look at my own account. It's getting rather confusing since my only metacontact with Yahoo! has his idle times turned off

libgaim's state handling, particularly in some specific cases including Yahoo, is awful in gaim 1.x. The gaim 2.x tree (CVS HEAD) should do a much better job... it's their massive status rewrite No ETA on a release, but I look forward to being able to use that much better code.
