Reduce file size feature?

I'm wondering if there is a feature in Adium where I can drop a photo into an IM tab from iPhoto or the Finder and then have Adium ask me what I want to do with it. Preferably, there would be a cascading style sheet that would offer different settings to trim the file size. There is often no need for me to send a 3MB photo at its best quality and I dislike manually having to open Photoshop Elements and resize it. Thanks for the help.

Adium isn't meant to be an image editor. iPhoto has a perfectly fine export feature designed for Web sizing. Preview has a perfectly fine "Save As..." feature.

I guess this could be done with AppleScript, it has some functions for transforming images.
