Find display name from looking at conversation window?

Post by Gary King »

How do I find out the user's display name from just the conversation window, without going to the contact list? It's not in the Info page, for instance.

In the chat window and in the information window, you find it in the titlebar.
Further, when this person talks to you, it's usually included (depends of your message style)

I have a message style where the name is written in the top. It's a modification of another style i found on http://www.adiumxtras.com

That's not true. If I rename the contact, then it shows the renamed name. Which, as I said in my first post, I do not want. Display name means their username that the IM network displays it as :)

It depends on the message style. Try Plastic, it might do what you want.

Nope, Plastic didn't work. I was using Mockie, but now I'm using Plastic - looks much nicer. But that doesn't show the display name.

Well, Alias (username) shows username as the email address when on MSN, so, not quite :(

EDIT: I got it. It IS in the user Info :)
