Cyberduck doesn't start after 10.4.6 Update!

Postby Johnson » Tue Apr 04, 2006 5:14 pm

After i updated my OSX to 10.4.6, i can't launch Cyberduck any more!

When clicked on, the icon bounces up and down several times in the Dock, but nothing happens after that.
I have the latest version of Cyberduck, of course.

HELP! :?

Works for me. Version 2.5.5 on a PowerBook with 10.4.6.

Did you try trashing Cyberduck's preferences and did you repair permissions after applying the update? You might also try to apply the combo update, not the delta upgrade that is offered by Apple's software update app…

I have this exact same problem! Trashing preferences / repairing permissions doesn't work for me. Have you been able to resolve this yet, johnson?

By the way, Cyberduck's crash report says it's trying to access an illegal memory address.

I have the same problem!
I reinstalled cyberduck with tha latest, but still it bounces once in the dock and then disappears.

I tried deleting the preferences, i've repaired the permissions a lot of times, but still nothing. the crash log says:

Code: Select all

Host Name:      Carl-Franzons-PowerBook
Date/Time:      2006-04-12 21:04:20.869 +0200
OS Version:     10.4.6 (Build 8I127)
Report Version: 4

Command: Cyberduck
Path:    /Applications/Cyberduck.app/Contents/MacOS/Cyberduck
Parent:  WindowServer [69]

Version: Version 2.5.5 (1976)

PID:    274
Thread: 0

Exception:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes:      KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xa5af0d6c

The same thing happens for my Azereus. All the others seem to work.

Have anyone got this to work??

It looks like the update corrupted your Java runtime. What gives when you run java -version in a Terminal.app window?

A-ha! Doing that in terminal also gives "Segmentation fault." How can I fix my Java runtime? :o

I downloaded the full install rather that the updater. You can get it from Apple's site here. After installing, it worked for me! Cyberduck launches! Hooray!

Thanks very much, dkocher, for the diagnosis. :{D

YAY! Thank you so much!
I had given up hope already!

Cyberduck works after that Java-Update!

I thought i was too stupid to update my mac when i read about "trashing Cyberduck's preferences" and "repairing permissions" - i was like WTF? Whats up whith that, anyways? Luckily, it's not neccesary anymore..!

For others having a defunct Java installation, I advice to install the latest Java 5 Update available at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ ... e4ppc.html for PPC and http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ ... intel.html for Intel.
