Adium doesn't automatically reconnect to AIM account

Post by retrovertigo »

When I get disconnected from my AIM account, even though my status is set to "Available", I am not being reconnected. I have to set my status to "Offline", then "Available" again to be reconnected. Is this a bug, or is there no auto-reconnect feature in Adium? I am using v0.89.

i do have the same problem with icq, which is by aol as well, for a few days now. the bad thing is that you don't even realize that you aren't connected anymore when you look at the doch icon.

I also am experiencing this problem. Always have, I wasn't sure if it was a bug or not.

A large portion of my AIM buddy list was missing yesterday (shown as offline when they were online), which may be the same problem. I thought it might be an AIM server problem. I tried closing Adium and re-launching it and my buddy list re-appeared.

This has happened to me on rare occasions in the past - in some cases, I was unable to IM the few buddies that did appear online - I got the message that I couldn't IM them cause they were "blocked." I didn't test that this time, though.

You were right - a server upgrade had some unexpected side effects until early evening eastern time yesterday when the problems were resolved.
