is it really useful?
I've canceled it cause i don't want it anymore. This can cause some troubles?

Yes, it's useful... no, turning it off won't cause any problems.

Contz mentioned in another thread that he's Italian and has poor English. I'm assuming that turning it off means to him stopping Growl temporarily in the preference pane and therefore "totally canceling it" is how he refers to uninstalling it.

Contz, uninstalling Growl as you did will not cause problems with Adium.

My two cents: Growl is very useful when you use it for multiple programs, like Mail and iTunes in addition to Adium.
