Not smart at applescript need some help please

Post by thehigherlife »

I really like the contact bubbles (To Fit) window sizes but i don't like the fact that it doesn't have my current contact status. am i missing something a plugin or an xtra that will let me see my status so i know if i'm away or something using applescript and geektool? geektool is program that you can have applescripts in and have them show up on the desktop. if someone could write an applescript for me that i could execute that would return my status so i could put it in geek too you would rock. and you would double rock if you could get it to let me change my status too. thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if you're only asking for an applescript, but you can (at least partly) view your current status in the menu bar or in the dock.

i guess i'm looking for a standalone window that would display my status and maybe even alow me to change it. what ever the best way to do that is what i am looking for.

if there is a plugin for adium that will let me do that that i have missed let me know and i'll just do that.

Well, there's always the dock icon; it should change depending on your status, though different ones show it in different ways. You could try checking out the Xtras for one that's clearer, perhaps. (I'd recommend iBubbles, if you want your status really clearly displayed.) And to change your status, you can right click on the dock icon and go to Status > whatever status you want.

As for actually having a window... I really don't know.

i know that these are all issues of preference. so i'm sorry that i am being so picky. I like to have my dock auto hide so i cant see my status in the dock. and i really like the bubbles (to fit) view as well. they take up way less space on my desktop and i just don't seem as intrusive. but the downside to that window format is it doesn't display your status. so maybe i'm just SOL, which is okay i like the format of the setup way more then i care about not being able to see my status. i just wish there was a way i could have the best of both worlds.

if at all possible though what would be an applescript that would just return in a window what my current status is everytime i ran the script?

I don't know AS well enough to provide a script for it but you should be able to open a window with some text & a button on it [I know I've seen it done before.] You can set the text to your status and could have the button close the window.
Try my software!
