I actually had someone IM me "asl?" yesterday... and I responded, "Hah. Are you serious?" and they said yes. I'm just amazed.

You send a message double clicking a name in your contact list and then typing a message and pressing enter, off the road. If you don't have any names in your contact list you need to add them via the Add Contact item in the Contact menu.
