Request: stop notification

Post by jodancc »

Hello,

I use Growl 0.7.4 with Bezel style. I recently came back from holiday and got nearly 100 new Mails and of course also 100 notifications :(

Could there be any possibility to interupt/stop the notifiers for that reason?

Thank you very much

You just have to remember to turn Growl off temporarily in the System Preferences, and then turn it back on when you return.

There is also a silent mode.

You can turn off Growl and hide notifications from both the menu item and the preferences

Hi guys, thanks for replying...

but I was more thinking of a litte "stop button" that stops all notifications for the current application (button in the notifiction message, perhaps a little "X" ;) )

We already have that. Go into the applications tab and uncheck that application.

Hi The_Tick,

sorry, you got my wrong: I mean a button to disable the notification for that app for that notifier job, in that moment. So whenever i get 100 mails again a want growl's Bezel pop up and in that window a litte "stop". So I click this and for that job growl stops to notify my for my remaining 99 mail. But when a new mail job is comming growl should continue to work.

I mean, what info does growl get from mail: growl, I have 100 mail, please give this info to the user. Looking for a change to delete this job, ONLY this. Next time mail would say: growl, now I have 5 new mails. New job, new notification :)

I'm not looking for a way to disable and enable again, that's not user friendly, just to interupt a single notifier job...

So what you are looking for is a work around for the massive amounts of emails you are getting.

Why not look in GrowlMail preferences and set the notification style to auto? That'll give you what you get now, but if it's too many it auto switches to just a summary.

well, another solution to this problem is having a "overflow detector". Growl could have an input textbox or something in the prefs that allows you to enter a number, and when Growl "receives" a number of notifications that exceeds this number in a short period, it should cancel them all.

You have to look in the Growl part of Mail's preferences, not in the Growl pane of the system preferences.
